What is Pelvic Health Physical Therapy?

Pelvic Health Physical Therapy is a specialization that focuses on improving one’s overall and pelvic health.  Anatomically, the pelvic floor is a hammock of muscles that run from the tailbone to the pubic bone. These muscles help control the bowel and bladder, and support reproductive and intestinal organs. This network of muscle, ligaments, nervous, and connective, tissue work together to play an important role in complete physical, mental, social, and sexual well-being.

Why Kelly wants to Get Frank about Pelvic Health

Pelvic Health focuses on improving quality of life. Developing positive strategies with a physical therapist, that fit individual time and needs, leads to improving complete physical, mental, and social well-being.  Kelly wants you to pick up your new baby from their crib with a strong healing core, have your annual gynecologic wellness exam without leaving in tears, and finish a 5k without leaking urine.  Optimal pelvic health is the ability to gain access and control of your fullest life without pain, worry, or dysfunction. Frankly Pelvic advocates for, challenges, and helps individuals achieve this.

I am so grateful that I found Kelly! She was key in helping me with pelvic health issues that I have been dealing with for years and I have made strides since working with her. Kelly is both very professional and personable. She also has a very caring approach and put me at ease right away.

Patients will be able to submit their superbills to their own insurers for possible reimbursement.  Please call your own insurance company prior to your session to see what your coverage for 'out of network providers' is and to understand how to submit for reimbursement.

Many new parents are seen three to six weeks postpartum by their pelvic floor physical therapist. The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology recommends comprehensive fourth trimester ongoing care versus the single 6 to 12 week postpartum check up. You can make an appointment while you are still pregnant, as you are trying to get pregnant, or anytime postpartum. There is no right or wrong time to start your pelvic health journey. Please contact us if you have any specific questions.

Absolutely! We chose this specialization and business model to fit our patient's family needs.

No.  There is no contraindication to external or internal manual treatments while on your period, unless indicated otherwise by your MD. There are many non-internal treatments your therapist can perform as you are always able to defer any internal treatment at any time. Kelly wants you to feel comfortable and safe. You can also choose to reschedule that appointment, please note our cancellation policy and provide 24 hours notice to avoid a cancellation fee.

I encountered Kelly in the course of my recovery from a stroke. I have always been impressed by both her knowledge and her professionalism. What strikes me most about Kelly is how comfortable I find myself working with her, in a course of treatment that can so easily lead to awkwardness or unease. Kelly is a pleasure to work with, and her skills and demeanor have proven a blessing in my recovery.
